Licensed Clinical Psychologist

I have more than 30 years of experience treating individual adults, adolescents, couples and families. I believe psychotherapy is a worthy investment in you. It can lead you to empowerment, happiness and fulfillment.

What is Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy offers a safe and private place to explore and find more constructive ways to deal with your life circumstances. I work closely with each client to develop an individual plan that leads to personal insight and fulfillment. Each client not only discovers his or her own inner wisdom, but also learns to listen to it. By encouraging good choices, developing healthy coping skills and welcoming positive change, we work together towards the goal of a more pleasurable and productive life.

Services

My practice offers professional psychotherapy services for individual adults, adolescents, couples and families. I strive to meet my clients where they are right now, explore where they want to go and find the best path to reach their specific goals.

Therapy is specific to the individual. Each of us has a unique history which impacts how we relate to others and to our environment. Through caring, engaged and pragmatic treatment I address each client’s individual needs - always targeting immediate concerns first. My approach in all stages of treatment is active and collaborative. I listen to you. Then we work together to set goals and solve problems.

Adults

The goal of Individual Psychotherapy is to illuminate the true meaning of your thoughts and feelings. Together we will explore unsatisfying relationships in order to gain understanding and make improvements. What's holding you back from reaching your full potential? Why do you fall into persistent and repeated patterns of self-defeating behavior?

Therapy is a relationship with an intended result. It is my intention to provide clients with a warm and non-judgmental atmosphere where we will explore your experiences, feelings and concerns together. Through insight and authentic expression, we will work to develop new patterns and healthy behaviors.

I have extensive experience helping people with:

  • Depression, anger, fear
  • Anxiety
  • Eating disorders
  • Trauma & recovery
  • Self-esteem
  • Communication difficulties
  • Patterns of unsatisfying relationships
  • Life transitions
  • Parenting issues
  • Grief & loss
  • Multi-cultural issues

Adolescents

Adolescence is a time of preparation for launching into adulthood. It’s a time to build confidence and practice the skills needed to succeed as an adult. Adolescence also brings rapid physical, mental and emotional changes. These rapid changes can cause challenges to arise within the adolescent, the social environment and the home.

My goal is to help my adolescent clients and their families tackle this transition period smoothly. Honoring both the adolescent and the family creates positive change for everyone.

I work with adolescents both individually and with their families with the following presenting issues:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Eating disorders
  • Self esteem
  • Social adjustment
  • Friendship difficulties
  • Family relationships
  • Stage of life, development and identity issues
  • Trauma & recovery
  • Grief & loss
  • Stress management
  • Coping skills
  • Adjustment and cross-cultural issues
  • Coping with separation and divorce in the family
  • Blended families

Couples & Family

An individual’s greatest satisfaction comes from the trust, love and support they feel within close relationships. At times our relationships can cause us to feel anxious, confused, hurt or fearful.

I create a safe environment in which couples and families are able to communicate and show compassion. Together we explore the connection between each individual’s history and current difficulties. We focus on changing patterns of negative interaction, learning to communicate clearly and bringing a new connection and joy into relationships.

The focus areas include:

  • Communication & intimacy
  • Parenting skills
  • Divorce and separation
  • Blended families
